  • Bring a raincoat, also that can double up, as tent in harsh climate and, also cover your equipments. Wearing a jacket and, gloves (fingers pointing outside) in cold climate is also a good idea. Also, procure a waterproof camera backpack, with dark colors to avoid distractions for animals.
  • Choose right settings for your camera is the most important task. ISO needs, to be adjusted properly, to minimize noise in your photos.
  • Choose right shutter speed for animals, that move fast, as pictures can blur. Fast shutter speed for animals, that move a lot. Proper focus settings, for different scenarios and, using auto focus are the best solution. 
  • Use a sturdy tripod that is stable and, is able to carry heavy weight of camera on it. Tripod can be multi angled and, for uneven terrain-it’s more important. To check angle of camera, check the bubble in your spirit level, stays in the middle. 
  • Another important thing is tripod head ( ball head or gimbal head), to choose photo between medium not too heavy photo and, longer bigger telephoto.
  • After all this, not to forget, we need to read the behavior of animals or, birds so familiarize yourself, with them to increase your chances of capturing great shots. Taking clues from their footprints and, their place of hidings, place of vegetation ( with grass,weeds, and plants), so that your time, money, and energy is not wasted.
  • Also, keep a low profile while shooting as animals, do not like noise and, movements. So, wherever you are, don’t scare them, gently position yourself and, shoot.
  • And last but not the least, practice more and more. You can choose your neighborhood parks or local zoos with squirrels, monkeys, deer, cats , peacocks, and even dogs to hone your skills. At Zoo, you can easily capture pictures because you are at safe zone and practice photography skills.
